My Experiments with Ayurvedic Therapies

Ayurvedic Medicine compared to Allopathic Medicine

My Current State(allopathy):

Well, after having severe allergies for the longest of times, I was finally left in an acceptable state under the pretense of second generation antihistamines (Loratadine 5mg, twice a day[bd]), Systemic Decongestants (120mg Pseudoephedrine Extended Release, twice a day[bd]), and Systemic Steroids (20mg Prednisolone, alternate day dosage in the mornings). THAT’S A LOTTA’ DRUGS! Without them, I’m stuck with a runny nose, or at the very least, unable to breath clearly; That leaves one exhausted all the time and unable to do any work, ie., Sleep Apnea. With the drugs, we have to consider the potential long term side effects, most importantly of the steroids as well as plausible systemic cardiovascular effects of pseudoephedrine. I wonder, am I setting myself up at the age of 27 to end up, assuredly, with a hip fracture at 60?

Well, today, I came across an alternative therapy, which I begin implementing immediately. Tomorrow morning, instead of having my regular steroid dose(and decongestant\anti-histamine), I will try ayurvedic based pharmacopeia; It is Septilin from The Himalaya Drug Company. Below is some information from the company:

Action | Dosage | Side Effects | Indications | Research Papers | Composition
SeptilinSeptilin possesses immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, which potentiate the non-specific immune responses of the body. Septilin stimulates phagocytosis by macrophage activation, increases the polymorphonuclear cells and helps overcome infection. Septilin builds up resistance to infection and helps prevent re-infection. Septilin augments granulocyte-macrophage differentiation, natural killer cell activity and antibody-dependent cytotoxicity. Septilin’s stimulatory effect on the humoral immunity increases the antibody-forming cells, thereby enhancing the secretion of antibodies into the circulation. Septilin also augments the synthesis of erythropoietic and granulopoietic precursor cells, stab cells and primary myelocytes.
Please consult your physician to prescribe the dosage that best suits your condition.

Did you read that?
Septilin syrup is not known to have any side effects if taken as per the prescribed dosage. This is a huge difference, as compared to the allopathic based pharmacopeia, which, in my case includes a risk of development on Diabetes, Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease, Dyslipidemia, Hyperlipidemia, Heart Disease, and Osteoporosis. I’m sure I’ven’t covered all the basis, either! The best thing

Is this unsubstantiated?

What next?
Well, let me see how I feel; I’d love to be free from having to take steroids and the others! If this panacea is really what it is claimed to be, then I should experience complete relief as good as(and possibly better) than my current therapy from my allergies without having to take any other drug. Based on my evaluation, I have a further four patients lined up for this wonderful treatment, ie., 1 asthmatic, 1 allergic, 1 lower respiratory tract infection, and 1 upper respiratory tract infection. On this evaluation, I will be in a better position to form an opinion for recommending this product, and potentially, the other ayurvedic products by The Himalaya Drug Company.

Additionally, it is interesting to note Septilin’s potential in immunomodulation, and a role in diseases such as atheroscerosis, diabetes, cancers, connective tissue disorders(like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE), and others), and even acute glomerulonephritis. Can we use this drug to lower blood pressure? My findings can open the doors up to using this product and Himalaya’s other ayurvedic products for multitudes of disease states like those just mentioned; That too, with few side effects!

  2. Did Septilin help you finally? I want to know as I am also suffering from chronic sinusitis. Would also like to know if you experienced any side effects after administering this drug for long. Please reply.

  3. Septilin by itself did not help. I eventually left that option.

What has worked is the following:
Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot Complete Sinus Cleansing System Starter Kit

I HIGHLY recommend the above. It just cleans out the whole sinuses like nothing else can. I use the above, along with fluticasone intranasal spray (steroid). There are relatively no side effects. The nasal spray by itself is not as effective as the nasal passages require regularly being cleared out, and that can only be done either by an ENT Specialist or the Neti Pot.

If your sinusitis is so bad, you may have to temporarily be put on nasal decongestants and an Oral steroid dose to release your sinuses. If there is an infection which doesn’t allow the above regimen to clear up your sinuses, your doctor would prescribe you antibiotics for the specifically implicated organism.

Nonetheless, a daily dose of the intranasal steroid puff after a cleaning of my sinuses with the Neti Pot leave me as if I never had a problem in the first place! It is a lifetime of relief! And, you require less sleep than before, especially if you do this before bed time!

My advice: GET THE NETI POT!

  4. I have used septilin of himalaya for cough cold and related allergies since I was a kid it’s very effective

  5. Suggested today by one of my friend doctors for throat ailment and spondylosis. Had my first dose in the afternoon, have to wait and see how it treats my symptoms.

  6. Thanks for your personal marvelous posting! I truly enjoyed reading it, you could be a great author. I will be sure to bookmark your blog and will come back someday. I want to encourage one to continue your great writing, have a nice evening!|
